Publish an online form without a website
Create a form in the dashboard, add the questions, and switch on its hosted form link. Formward serves the form at a public address you can share anywhere:
https://formward.eu/s/your-formRespondents need no account. Their answers land in the same dashboard as any other Formward form, stored in Sweden, and you get an email for each one. Hosted forms are included on the Free plan.
From blank form to shareable link
- Create a form in the dashboard, or start from a hosted template. It gets an endpoint and an inbox straight away.
- Add your questions, a title, an optional description and the message people see after they submit.
- Switch on the hosted form link in the form's settings. The form is live immediately at its
/s/address. Switching it off takes it down without touching the form or its submissions. - Share the link in an email, a social bio, a QR code on a flyer or a chat message.
Want more than the form on the page? Pages, at formward.eu/p/your-page, lets you put one or more forms next to headings, text, images and buttons, with a theme and, from Professional, your own domain. It is optional; the hosted forms docs cover both.
Questions and steps
The editor offers short text, email, phone, long text, number, date, single choice, dropdown, a 1 to 5 rating, checkbox and file upload fields, plus signature, matrix and repeating-group questions. A section break splits the form into steps, which keeps longer forms manageable on a phone. Required fields are checked on the server, not only in the browser.
File upload fields follow the same plan rules as any other Formward form: they work on Professional and Business. See file upload forms for the limits.
If you are choosing between this and a form builder you already know, the comparisons with Typeform, Google Forms and Jotform go through the differences, including where each one keeps the responses.
Languages
The page's own text, such as the submit button, validation messages and the thank-you screen, is available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Swedish. Formward picks the language from the visitor's browser settings, and you can force one by adding ?lang=de (or another code) to the link. Your questions appear exactly as you wrote them.
Privacy defaults
- Not indexed by search engines unless you opt in for that form.
- A consent checkbox with your own wording, recorded with a timestamp when ticked. Available on every plan.
- The same spam checks as an embedded form: honeypot, a rate limit on hashed IPs, and optional Turnstile, which the page shows when you enable it.
- UTM parameters in the link are passed along, so the form's analytics can tell you which channel brought each response.
- Your form's retention period applies: 30 days on Free, your choice on paid plans.
What each plan adds
- Free: unlimited hosted form links with generated addresses, one published page, and 50 submissions a month.
- Paid plans: more hosted forms and pages, your own page address such as
/p/spring-open-day, and more page blocks and themes. - Professional and Business: conditional questions, file uploads, and removing the Formward branding from hosted forms and pages.
Hosted submissions count against the same monthly allowance as embedded ones. Compare everything on the plans page.
When you get a website
The hosted form link and the endpoint belong to the same form. Once you have a site, post to the endpoint from your own markup and keep the hosted link running, or switch it off. Submissions, recipients and history stay where they are.
<!-- The same form, later, on a site of your own -->
<form action="https://forms.formward.eu/f/YOUR_FORM_ID" method="POST">
<input type="text" name="name" required>
<input type="email" name="email" required>
<button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>Where the data lives
Formward stores submissions, file attachments and backups in Sweden, on servers run by Hostup AB. Notification email goes out through Mailjet from an EU data centre. Submitter IP addresses are replaced with a keyed HMAC-SHA-256 hash on receipt, so the raw address is never written to disk. On Professional and Business, AI features run on Mistral AI in France and can be switched off per form.
Data leaves the EU only where you send it: a notification inbox hosted outside the EU, a webhook URL, a Slack channel or a Google Sheet. Cloudflare Turnstile is a US service, and it is off unless you switch it on for a form. The details are in the sub-processor register, the data residency page and the published DPA. For the wider picture, see GDPR form backend.
Questions
- Do respondents need a Formward account?
- No. Anyone with the link can open the page and submit it.
- Will the form show up in Google?
- Not unless you want it to. Hosted forms tell search engines not to index them by default, and indexing is an opt-in.
- Can questions appear only for some answers?
- Yes, on Professional and Business. A question can be set to show only when an earlier question has a given answer. Hidden questions are not required, and any value from a hidden branch is dropped before the submission is stored.
- Can a hosted form take payments?
- No. Hosted forms collect answers only.
- Is this a survey tool?
- It covers forms and short surveys such as feedback, RSVP or NPS. It is not built for long research surveys with complex branching or response quotas.
