Formward vs Typeform for EU forms
Typeform and Formward do different jobs, and it is worth being clear about that before comparing anything. Typeform is a form builder: you design a polished, one-question-at-a-time form in its editor, with logic and branding, and Typeform hosts it. Formward is a form backend: you keep the form in your own HTML, or publish a deliberately simple hosted page, and Formward receives, stores, filters and forwards the submissions.
If the form experience itself is the product, a survey people should enjoy filling in, Typeform is the stronger tool. If you need a contact, lead or application form that matches your site, with submissions stored in the EU at a lower price per response, Formward is built for that.

EU, GDPR and data location
Typeform is a Spanish company, which matters for jurisdiction. Where the responses are stored is a separate question: its pricing page lists the choice between a US and an EU data centre as an Enterprise feature, and its developer docs describe an EU Responses Data Center for Enterprise accounts. Check which data centre your account uses before you rely on EU storage.
Formward stores and processes form submissions in the EU: the application and database run at Hostup AB in Sweden, notification email goes out through Mailjet in the EU, and AI features on Professional and Business use Mistral AI in France. One optional sub-processor is outside the EU: Cloudflare Turnstile (US), which only sees the anti-bot challenge and only on forms where you enable it. Data leaves the EU when you send it there yourself, for example to a notification mailbox hosted by a US provider, a Google Sheets sync or a webhook URL.
The details are in Formward's sub-processor register, the DPA (accepted in the dashboard) and the transfer-impact statement.
Moving from Typeform
Effort: Medium. What changes:
- The form is rebuilt rather than moved: either as HTML on your own site or as a Formward hosted page.
- One-question-at-a-time layouts and advanced logic do not carry over; Formward hosted pages are a single, simple form with show-if rules.
- List the questions you actually use and drop the ones you do not need.
- Rebuild the form as HTML on your site (start from a template in the library) or as a hosted page in the dashboard.
- Point the form at your Formward endpoint and send a test entry.
- Download your Typeform responses as CSV and import them; check that the date column is named Submitted At, created_at or createdAt so the original dates are kept; otherwise rows are dated at import time.
- Replace the Typeform link or embed on your site with the new form.

Questions
- Is Formward a form builder like Typeform?
- Not in the same sense. Formward has a simple hosted form page with a field editor, but its core is the backend: it receives submissions from forms you build yourself. If you want a polished conversational survey, Typeform is the better fit.
- Typeform is European. Why compare on data location?
- Because the company and the data centre are separate questions. Typeform S.L. is based in Barcelona, and its pricing page lists the EU data centre option as Enterprise only. Formward stores submissions in Sweden on every plan, including Free.
- Can I import my Typeform responses?
- Yes. Export your responses as CSV from Typeform and use Formward's CSV importer. The importer keeps original dates from a column named Submitted At, created_at or createdAt; if your export names it differently, rows are dated at import time.
- How much does Formward cost?
- Formward has a free plan with 50 submissions a month. Paid plans are EUR 15 a month (Personal, 200 submissions), EUR 30 (Professional, 2,000) and EUR 90 (Business, 20,000). Paying yearly brings those down to EUR 10, 20 and 60 a month.
